Derby County defender Andre Wisdom is in hospital after he was stabbed in Liverpool at the weekend.

Wisdom was attacked in Toxeth while visiting family, having featured for Derby on Saturday in a 2-1 win over Reading.

His designer was watch was stolen by the gang.

Derby now sit eighth in the Championship following Saturday's victory over Reading, with Wayne Rooney scoring the game-winning goal last time out.

Merseyside Police said Wisdom was walking in Beaumont Street in the Toxteth area of the city at about 04:30 BST when he was assaulted.

Wisdom joined Liverpool as a teenager, making his first-team debut under Kenny Dalglish in the 2012/13 season, before loan spells at Derby, West Brom, Norwich and Red Bull Salzburg.
