Back at the beginning of the year, Hank Azaria made a decision to vacate the role of convenience store owner Apu on The Simpsons after the character became embroiled in controversy for not just encouraging stereotypes of Indian characters, but for being voiced by an actor who was white.

The dual announcements come on the heels as other white actors have stepped down from voicing minority characters.

Cleveland now joins a growing list of high-profile animated characters that have been recast this week.

Mike Henry has chose to step down from his role as Cleveland Brown on Family Guy, after voicing the beloved character for more than two decades.

India now has 1026 diagnostic laboratories, including 741 in the government sector and 285 in the private sector, he said. The number of containment zones in Delhi has risen to 417. "COVID-19 is spreading rapidly into new parts of the country".

Two animated shows announced Friday evening they will stop using white voice actors to portray non-white characters.

Bumbling Homer Simpson, housewife Marge, troublemaker Bart, prodigy Lisa, and baby Maggie, have captured the changing face of America for more than 30 years in the longest-running scripted show on U.S. television. Earlier this year, Azaria confirmed to the New York Times he would cease voicing the character. It's not clear how soon the show might find replacement actors to voice those characters, especially since they don't appear very often.

"It's been an honor to play Cleveland on Family Guy for 20 years", Henry tweeted on Friday.

"I now understand that people of color, should always voice people of color". The announcement of the voice actor stepping down from his role as Cleveland Brown arrives on the heels of a similar announcement involving Kristen Bell's role as the voice of Molly, a black character on the animated show Central Park. But since Family Guy isn't going anywhere anytime soon, the role will be a good opportunity for whoever gets the part.
