Jennifer Hudson, 38, just blew us away again!

The first trailer for Respect, the Aretha Franklin biopic starring Oscar victor Jennifer Hudson as the Queen of Soul, has been released ahead of the film reaching cinemas next year.

This performance of "Young, Gifted and Black" came mere moments before an all-new teaser trailer dropped for Respect.

About 13.5 million people live in the seven counties, accounting for roughly one-third of California's population. But California bars were only allowed to reopen from June 12, with the final decision left to local authorities.

The movie follows the rise of Franklin's career from a child singing in her father's church choir to her becoming an global superstar. Liesl Tommy is making her feature film debut with "Respect". The movie also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Marc Maron, Tate Donovan, Tituss Burgess and Sky Dakota Turner.

Scheduled for an August, the movie's release was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Franklin, who died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 76 in 2018, is one of the most prolific Black performers in pop culture history, having amassed 18 Grammys and inspired countless other Black performers. It will then expand January 8, 2021 in theaters with a full-on wide release January 15, which is Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.
