Death rate from COVID-19 in India comes down to 2.15 percent

The health ministry pointed out that India's fatality rate which is at 2.15% at present, has been the lowest since the first lockdown which was imposed on March 24.

The positivity rate - percentage of patients who have tested positive for coronavirus - stood at 8.57 per cent this morning.

With this latest spike, the total cases in the country stand at 16,38,871.

Maharashtra is the worst-affected by the pandemic with 4,31,719 cases, including 15,316 deaths as of Saturday, followed by Tamil Nadu, which has reported 2,51,738 infections and 4,034 deaths.

Andhra Pradesh is the eighth-largest state in India, and tenth-most populous state.

In the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, the number of cases has more than doubled last month, according to the state government. On Wednesday, the government had released the guidelines for Unlock3, the third phase of lifting of coronavirus-related restrictions across the country. Today, the number of patients infected with Corona has crossed the figure of 17.5 million.
