New Queensland coronavirus cases prompt major testing blitz across Logan, Brisbane

For the second day in a row, hundreds of people have lined up for testing.

It's believed she also went out in the community on Tuesday when she should have been in quarantine awaiting the result of the test.

"There is a low risk that a student or a staff member could have been exposed to COVID-19", the letter read.

He said they believed that the infected worker had "limited contact" with students and the wider college community.

"Our top priority is the health and safety of our community, customers and staff".

Mr Cully said he hoped the school would be able to open again next week but would wait for public health advice.

A screening clinic was established yesterday at the school for the public soon after it was discovered a school cleaner had tested positive to COVID-19.

Chatswood Hills State School also closed for deep cleaning today after one of the women worked at after school care.

It's understood she and another woman had been to Melbourne and Sydney and had lied about their travel.

Police allege Olivia Winnie Muranga, Diana Lasu and one unnamed woman, deliberately provided false information on their Queensland border declarations to gain access back into Queensland after travelling to Victoria.

In a letter to parents, principal David Teale said the school would close following advice from Queensland Health.

"I am very concerned about the second individual who has not been cooperative and has not shared with us where she has been", she said.

An official of the Chaman administration, Zakaullah Durrani, told Reuters that the situation on the border remained tense. Despite conciliatory signals from Pakistan, the Afghan side appeared aggressive, at least in its post-clash tone.

"Therefore, if you live in the areas of Logan, South Brisbane or Springfield and are feeling unwell please stay home and immediately get tested", she said.

"Two young women returned from Melbourne, which we know is an absolute hot spot with a lot of cases, return from Melbourne on the 21 July via Sydney and now tested positive", Dr Young said.

"They travelled on flights VA 863 and VA 977".

As urgent contact tracing continues, Queensland Health has released the times and dates the women visited venues across Brisbane's south.

We do not want widespread community transmission.

"So our focus now is working with those young women to identify everywhere that they have been since they have come back into Queensland".

Health Minister Steven Miles said there was a large amount of contact tracing that needed to be done with the community as well. "I keep myself at home to protect others but it's disappointing others aren't doing the right thing". There is also a number of close contacts in both of their households.

"Accordingly, the hall was thoroughly cleaned on early Monday morning before any use by students and staff".

One man in his 20s who recently returned from the United States is in hotel quarantine, while a couple who ate at The Apollo restaurant in Sydney's Pott Point - where there has been a small outbreak - have gone into isolation.

Mike Warman, a spokesperson for the school who sits on the board of directors, said original plans to finish testing last night had changed due to demand.

"We're working closely with the Department of Education and Queensland Health and follow their guidance should any part of their school be identified using COVID-19".
