A federal judge on Friday rejected a request from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn to void NY state's limits on religious gatherings in coronavirus hot spots, which the diocese argued had effectively closed its churches.

The state has been tracking several coronavirus clusters.

An Oct. 6 order by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo shut down non-essential businesses in targeted "red zone" areas where infections have spiked, including some Brooklyn neighborhoods.

As of Wednesday, October 14th, Broome County has reported a total of 3,366 tests with 96 new positives, Chenango County reported a total of 267 tests with 1 new case, Delaware County reported 143 tests with 2 new positive cases, and Tioga County has reported a total of 442 tests with 19 new positive cases. The other is what the rate would be if 20 areas identified as hot spots were not counted.

Yeshiva was in session Thursday at three schools in Monsey and Spring Valley - right in the middle of Rockland's red zone.

The state is now focused on a handful of clusters, and "we are addressing these clusters through our targeted approach to ensure that they don't become community spread", said Cuomo.

Dexter showrunner reveals limited reboot will be like a second finale
While the series aired for a total of eight seasons, die-hard fans felt the quality had been waning for the latter half. The network however does plan to begin shooting at the earliest and air Dexter once again in the third quarter of 2021.

Rich Azzopardi, senior advisor to the governor, says Cuomo is saying the opposite of what Trump is saying.

The state's numbers in recent days also show that hospitalizations for the disease are steadily climbing.

Another 143 patients were newly admitted to hospitals in NY on Thursday.

Ten more people died due to the virus in the state on Thursday.

Cuomo's framing of the state's infection rate also comes during a week when he released a memoir that chronicles how he successfully lowered the rate of infection in NY, which in the spring was the nation's epicenter for the coronavirus. Tedisco spoke at a rally protesting the state's strict visitation rules at nursing homes.

The governor agrees that the crisis is far from over.
