Joe Biden has flown on a plane with a crew member who later tested positive for Covid-19, his campaign has said.

According to Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon, "Senator Harris was not in close contact, as defined by the CDC, with either of these individuals during the two days prior to their positive tests; as such, there is no requirement for quarantine".

Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff both tested negative on Thursday.

"If anything, let this serve as an example of the importance of wearing masks and keeping a safe, social distance".

"May good once again triumph over evil - and usher in new beginnings and opportunity for all", tweeted Biden, who is challenging President Donald Trump in the race to the White House.

The country eliminated community transmission for 102 days before a new cluster was discovered in August in Auckland. The election also saw Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters and his small New Zealand First party voted out.

"And Kamala Harris tweeted, ".@DouglasEmhoff and I wish our Hindu American friends and family, and all those celebrating, a very Happy Navratri! "Yes, we do. We do", Trump continued.

Democratic vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris has said she would resume her campaign on Monday. She was due here this weekend, but those plans changed quickly when Harris's communications director, Liz Allen, and an airline staffer tested positive for COVID-19.

Everyone else who was traveling with Harris on October 8 has also had multiple negative tests in the past week, the campaign said. All of his COVID tests have been negative as well and he will return to in-person campaigning on Friday. The first lady, Melania Trump, Trump's son Barron Trump and other high-ranking members of the GOP also tested positive.

The Biden campaign has sought to convey a sense of responsibility and caution around the virus, requiring that all staff, press and event attendees wear masks, and abiding by local rules about group gatherings.
