On its Thanksgiving advisory page, the CDC warned that "Travel may increase your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19", and that, "Postponing travel and staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others this year".

Despite a record number of new Covid cases and the Centers for Disease Control recommending against traveling for Thanksgiving, Friday was the second busiest day at United States airports since the pandemic brought air travel to a near halt in March.
