Snow is expected to begin on Sunday afternoon, with snow tapering off by Monday morning. "Hazardous winter weather travel conditions will continue during this time", the weather advisory read.

"Areas near Lake Ontario may switch over to ice pellets and/or rainfall late this afternoon or evening, creating sloppy conditions".

"As of 1 p.m., regional snowfall observations range from 8-11 cm across north Toronto and Brampton".

For areas near Lake Ontario, slightly milder temperatures are expected to result in lower accumulations due to the snow mixing with rain at times.

There's also a 60 per cent chance of flurries Wednesday and Thursday with highs of 2 C and 3 C.

Environment Canada said the snow is a result of a "Colorado Low" that will make its way from OH and into the St. Lawrence River area Sunday into Monday.
