The violent siege of the US Capitol led to the deaths of five people, including a police officer.

While some highlighted the fact that Norris has light-coloured eyes, unlike the man in the photo who has dark brown eyes, others pointed out that Norris is 80-years-old and the man in the picture appears much younger.

After it was retweeted hundreds of thousands of times, Norris's manager issued a statement claiming he was thousands of miles away from the Capitol when violence broke out on 6 January.

Veteran action star Chuck Norris has denied that he was part of the mob that attacked the Capitol Hill last week.

"It wasn't me and I wasn't there".

'I am and always will be for Law and Order'. "Chuck remains on his range in Texas where he has been with his family".

Another user put the photo through a facial-recognition software and the results came back with a 85% match, which according to the user, means that although the man looks like Norris, he isn't actually him.

A Chuck Norris lookalike was photographed at a pro-Trump rally before the riots at the US Capitol last week.

Norris is a longstanding Republican Party supporter and backed former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee's presidential election bids in 2008 and 2016.

The actor and martial artist also took to his own Facebook page to deny that the man in the picture was him. He found big-screen success in films such as Lone Wolf McQuade, Code of Honor, Missing in Action and Delta Force, all staples of late-night cable TV.

Norris is best known for playing the karate-kicking lawman Cordell Walker in "Walker, Texas Ranger" which ran between 1993 and 2001.
