The new Google Search experience on mobile will start rolling out in the coming days although a specific date hasn't been announced yet. The update also includes more of Google's own font, which already shows up in Android and Gmail, among other Google products More visual space on Search "We chose to create a new edge-to-edge results design and to minimise the use of shadows, making it easier to immediately see what you're looking for", says Chang.

While the working of Google's search engine has improved quite a bit over the years, the Google Search interface has had a very consistent design language on mobile devices for long now. "That's especially true given how much Google Search has evolved". We're not just organizing the web's information, but all the world's information. The search giant shared the development through a blog post with some insights from the designer who led the visual redesign. The text will be larger and bolder, including result and section titles being bigger.

Another goal in the Search redesign is to focus on the information being presented, not on the design used to present it. Cheng said, "We want to let the search results shine, allowing people to focus on the information instead of the design elements around it".

Lastly, Cheng wanted the new look for Search to be "Googley".

In many ways, today's refresh is a continuation of the work Google did with its mobile search refresh in 2019.

For the most part, though, comparing the new and old design, the changes are small.

Google has also minimised the use of shadows for more "visual space and breathing room for Search results". Now if Google had made it significantly easier to distinguish ads from the content you are actually looking for, that would've been something. The use of colours at right places Google says that it focused on centering content and images against a clean background and using color more intentionally to guide the eye to important information without being overwhelming or distracting. Each letter of the Google logo, along with the search bar and magnifying glass icon themselves, will be rounder than before.
