With the 7-footer in his grill, James dribbled forward, stepped back and drilled a deep 3-point shot that has become one of his signature perimeter moves.

The long-awaited duel between LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo turned in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers star, who led his team to a 113-106 victory over the Bucks on Thursday night in Milwaukee.

The victory opened a seven-game road trip for the National Basketball Association champion Lakers, who are hoping this is the beginning of another run of victories.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 23 points and Davis finished with 18 points and nine rebounds in the win.

Montrezl Harrell added 12 points off the bench for Los Angeles, who shot 19 of 37 (51.4 per cent) from three-point distance. Antetokounmpo had a career high nine turnovers.

James scored 34 points for the Lakers, while Antetokounmpo was the Bucks' most productive player with 25 points. Caldwell-Pope sank seven-of-10 threes. But James and Alex Caruso each drained key three pointers in the final two minutes.

The reigning champs didn't let go of the lead through the entire second half, and the Lakers move to 12-4 with this victory.
