Alabama coach Nick Saban confirmed that O'Brien will join the team during a radio appearance Wednesday on SportsRadio 610. Sarkisian left to become head coach at the University of Texas.

O'Brien, who also served as the Texans' general manager past year, was sacked four games into the 2020 season. This season, Saban led the Crimson Tide to a ideal 13-0 record after securing his sixth national championship in 14 seasons at Alabama on Monday night, thanks to a 52-24 victory over Ohio State.

However, Heisman Trophy-winning wide receiver DeVonta Smith, quarterback Mac Jones and running back Najee Harris are projected to be first-round National Football League draft picks.

The 51-year-old O'Brien was sacked in October, four games into a Texans season that began 0-4 and ended with a 4-12 record.

Game, test and match
Players for the Australian Open, scheduled to begin on February 8, will also be tested on arrival and isolate until they receive a negative test.

He had a 52-48 record in seven seasons with the AFC South franchise. Critics blasted the Texans' return in the deal as being far too little.

Alabama's comfortable 52-24 College Football Playoff victory over OH averaged 18.7 million viewers across the ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU channels, resulting in the lowest linear television audience in the 23 years since college football has decided a champion with a year-end game. Before that, he cut his teeth at the college level, including stints with Brown - where the MA native had played as a defensive end and linebacker - Georgia Tech, Maryland and Duke.

O'Brien was an assistant coach with the New England Patriots from 2007-11, serving as offensive coordinator in his final season there.
