Mumbai: Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh on Wednesday released his latest track dedicated to global pop star Rihanna, less than 24 hours after she voiced her support for the ongoing farmers' agitation in the country.

The 2.16 minute-long Punjabi number draws its title, 'RIRI (Rihanna)', from the Grammy-winning artiste's nickname.

After RiRi made the tweet above to her 100 million followers, she initially received a lot of praise from her vocal supporters, alongside Bollywood actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh.

BJP and Indian trolls on Twitter started firing shots at Rihanna after her tweet inspired the likes of Greta Thunberg and Meena Harris to also raise their voices for the farmers protest.

On Tuesday, Rihanna created a stir on Indian Twitter after she shared a CNN article about the ongoing farmers' protests in Delhi (and how the government has cut internet services for protesting farmers), when she tweeted, "why aren't we talking about this?!"

"It is unfortunate to see vested interest groups trying to enforce their agenda on these protests, and derail them", the MEA said in a statement, adding that the parliament of India had passed the reformist legislation relating to the agricultural sector after a full debate and discussion. The government should listen carefully. Farmers, mainly from Punjab and Haryana, are also massed at Tikri and Singhu on the Delhi-Haryana border.

Criticising the new security measures taken by police to barricade the protest sites, Tikait said, When the king (ruler) is scared, he secures the fortress.

The way we are getting support from khap panchayats, we will win this fight. The new Biden-Harris administration has not yet issued any official statement on the ongoing protests.

The statement referred to the chaos on Republic Day during the farmers' tractor rally and the desecration of Mahatma Gandhi's statues in some parts of the world, when some of the government's own fellow travellers celebrate his assassin Nathuram Godse.

"The protest sites are looking like worldwide borders".

Tendulkar posted: "India's sovereignty can not be compromised".

Among accounts targeted were a prominent news magazine and others linked to farmer unions. "External forces can be spectators but not participants", he said. A cherished national commemoration, the anniversary of the inauguration of the Constitution of India, was besmirched, and violence and vandalism took place in the Indian capital. "Let's remain united as a nation".
