For almost 50 years the annual CPAC convention has been held just outside Washington, D.C., in National Harbor, Maryland, but was moved to Florida this year in part to avoid strict coronavirus guidelines. CPAC is one of the largest annual gatherings of political conservatives - one that trump regularly participates in and enjoys.

His appearance also comes two weeks after his second impeachment acquittal in the Senate. Ten House Republicans voted with their Democratic colleagues to impeach him for inciting the mob that stormed the Capitol in a bid to block the formal certification of President Joe Biden's win.

Trump already has a lot of ammunition with which to target Joe Biden, who has been busy the last month dismantling numerous former president's policies.

Trump skipped Biden's inauguration and has remained mostly out of sight at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, spending portions of his Senate impeachment trial golfing on his nearby course.

The former president's son-Donald Trump Jr. -will speak as well. Trump made a series of media appearance since leaving office Wednesday with outlets such as Fox News and Newsmax after radio host Rush Limbaugh died, NBC News reports. They have not spoken since, a former White House official said this week.

Health officials say the number of hospitalizations dropped by 19, to 747, and 129 people were in intensive care, a drop of one. Additionally, there are over 200 more cases in Peel that have screened positive for a variant of concern as of Wednesday.

'I think it's disgraceful what happened. Although analysts have described tensions within the Republican Party as a "civil war", Trump's GOP critics won't be given a platform to share their perspective during the event, which takes place in Orlando, Florida, from February 25 to 28. Rejecting Romney again this year, CPAC has instead fully embraced Trump-as have most conservative voters. But the political landscape may have changed dramatically in four years and the Republican Party is going to spend much of that time fighting about what kind of party they want to be.

Last year's CPAC was briefly interrupted by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, who attended the conference dressed as Trump while filming his movie, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.

Other notable speakers at the conference include Trump's former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Trump's former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), Trump's former press secretary Sarah Sanders, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R).

There is a growing belief that Mr Trump will target Brian Kemp, Georgia's governor who faces re-election next year, who aroused the presidential ire for refusing to back a challenge to Joe Biden's victory in the state.
