Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Ottawa and parts of eastern Ontario, calling for up to 25 centimetres of snow by Tuesday morning.

Colette Kennedy, meteorologist for CBC Toronto News and CBC Here and Now, said on Monday that the heaviest snow will fall in the overnight hours for the Greater Toronto Area.

"This ban is necessary to allow us to address the significant snowfall that will have fallen", the City says on its website.

Meredith predicted that the snow would start at about 9 p.m., continue "all the way into Tuesday morning" at least until about 8 a.m.

The precipitation may diminish during the afternoon, but another round of even heavier snow is expected to move in Monday evening and persist until Tuesday morning.
