As Congress is not now in session, most politicians were not at the Capitol complex at the time of the attack. One USCP officer was transported by a USCP cruiser to the hospital.

Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday condoled the death of US Capitol Police Officer William Evans, saying that he "made the ultimate sacrifice protecting the Capitol and those who work there on behalf of the American people". Local media quoting senior law enforcement officials supervising the probe stated the suspect has been recognized as Noah Green, a 25-year-old man from Midwest state Indiana. In one such post, he talked about being subjected to "mind control" and being tormented by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Central Intelligence Agency.

An increased security presence remains around the Capitol building, where the US Congress sits.

Covid 19: Pakistan Among Four Countries Added to Britain's Travel Ban List
Please stay safe, stay well and keep following Covid-19 SOPs in these hard times, the British high commissioner concluded. When the four countries are added, there will be a total of 39 nations on the government's so-called "red list".

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Evans a "martyr of democracy" and ordered flags lowered to half-staff on the Capitol.

Green is a follower of Nation of Islam, said MSNBC, quoting Facebook content that was believed to be published by him.

The incident follows recent ramping down of some additional protective measures that were put into place after the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol Hill complex. One Capitol Police officer died as a result of the attack, as well as four other individuals who took part.
