The 77-year-old found himself in the bottom two with Amir, 30, but sadly lost out to the boxer.
Speaking to Ant and Dec in his exit interview, the former Conservative MP explained that he was sad to be leaving the gruelling jungle.
He said: “I am gutted, I’m sorry. It’s been a wonderful time and it couldn’t have been better.”
What’s more, the oldest ever campmate believes he still believes he has time to have another go on the show, believing he could go further now he knows what to expect.
“I always say yes to things and I couldn’t conceivably think why I shouldn’t do this. I love being in wonderful, empty places with a few people.
“I’m looking forward to returning. Have you ever had a returning campmate? I know all the tips now,” he confessed.
Stanley also opened up on his time with this year’s most divisive contestant, Amir.
He insisted: “He is a wonderful man. He’s going to go far – he didn’t know we had a Conservative government and he didn’t know about Mrs Thatcher.
“His mind is unsullied,” Stanley joked, leaving Ant McPartlin in stitches.
To conclude, Stanley suggested that Georgia “Toff” Toffolo, 23, would be a worthy winner after striking up an unusual bond with her.
“I’ve got a soft spot for Toff. I don’t think age is a barrier when it comes to having things in common.”
